I saw this article - about mead made from Coca-Cola - and immediately thought about our friend Wronwright, from those golden days at Tim Blair's old blog: "Brewers are turning Coca-Cola into a very boozy wine".
For anyone who might not know, the fellow who called himself "Wronwright" was one of the most popular commenters at Tim's blog, and such a unique character that I dragooned him into service as Detective Paco's sidekick. Sumerian mead was a trope or meme of some kind that got started in the comments section (I don't recollect the "origin" story), and it was frequently associated with Wronwright. I believe he may have commented here once, back in this blog's infancy, or perhaps he sent me an email, I don't recall exactly, but I haven't heard from him since, and I miss him. If you're still out there, Wron, I hope you're doing well, and please drop us a line sometime.
By the way, any idea what Andrea's up to these days?
ReplyDeleteShe had her own blog for awhile that kinda overlapped the end of TBs blog. I remember commenting some on her blog, but I don't remember when or how it ended. I hope she, too, is still doing well.
DeleteI tried to follow Andrea for a while. She had a blog or two, then she dropped out of sight.
DeleteAs I recall she closed one blog with a link to the next, after a long silence, but said something about having changed. A lot.
I don't think the new blog ran too long.
I temember Wronwright, he commented a bunch at another blog too but I don't remember where.

I miss a bunch of folks from the 00s.

I'm not 100% sure about it, Paco, but I too seem to remember him showing up here early on, and then he disappeared after a few comments. I remember hoping either your blog, or Andrea's, would become the new home for all the misfits that populated TB's blog, but it didn't work out that way. Would have been fun!
