"John Roberts Calls for Restraint After Years of Judicial Overreach".

Roberts has spent much of his tenure trying to protect the idea that judges operate above politics, saying more than once that there are no “Obama judges” or “Trump judges,” only independent jurists applying the law. That's a noble-sounding principle, but Americans aren't blind; when rulings repeatedly align with the predictable political outcomes, people begin to question the claim.

Justice is supposed to be blind, but willful blindness on the part of the chief justice when it comes to the blatant political biases manifested by inferior courts is inimical  to the very confidence in the judicial system he exhorts the citizenry to maintain. Roberts is a weak man who just wants the "unpleasantness" to go away. It won't without strong leadership; unfortunately, none seems to be forthcoming in the near future - at least on Roberts' part. It is worth noting that President Trump is not possessed of infinite patience, and that he may ultimately decide to start ignoring judicial decisions that are plainly unconstitutional. If this happens, Roberts will be largely to blame.

  1. I’ll have more respect for the judiciary when they purge their ranks of horse’s asses like Judge Boasberg.
