California is practically under a Democrat lockdown when it comes to state politics and national congressional representation. Still, it would no doubt be beneficial to have a governor who adopts a policy of "first, do no harm". At a bare minimum, we should be able to look forward to a governor who does not, himself, initiate a lot of idiotic policies.
With the state Legislature "... decisively controlled by Democrats ...", yeah, a Republican governor won't make a big difference.

And Schwarzenegger was/is a RINO. So that 2011 date is arguable. Me, I lean towards Reagan.
The last Republican governor of CA tried governing as a Republican. And got smacked pretty hard by the Dem machine. So he just gave up and spent his two terms smoking cigars outside the Capitol in Sacramento.
ReplyDeleteI doubt that I'll ever see it, but yeah, it would be fun to have a Republican governor here in Illinois, too.
ReplyDeleteEven if all he accomplished was telling the Dims in the legislature how stupid they are, and make them overide his veto on everything.
