"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
This is art, way beyond taping an overripe banana to the wall.
ReplyDeleteToo bad there aren't more patrons commissioning real art (like this) from real artists.
That's so incredible, imagining it and actually creating it must have been such a great experience.
ReplyDeleteReal art is hard, making crap and saying you don't understand it is a lot easier.
Look at Andy Warhol, he made bank and a towering rep painting cans of soup.
I never understood that, and fans are gleeful when you're too benighted to appreciate the creativity.
They should tape a hammer to the wall, symbolizing that they're tools.
The wife of one of my colleagues at work was employed by some Maryland billionaire to work as an assistant. The guy has a private art museum filled with modernist crap. One in particular I recall seeing a photo of: a stack of old vacuum cleaners under glass. I have a vague recollection that he paid half a million for that object d'suck.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear the 'inspiration' for that vacuum thing.
DeleteIt's probably all about smashing the patriarchy or the bourgeoisie.
I can always use a good laugh.
