That was the unofficial motto of the French Foreign Legion when it was based in Algeria. And it's my motto, now. We must forge ahead with courage, discipline and hope for a victory that may be a while in coming, but which we will obtain, may it please God, through our diligence and commitment to succeed.
I will not bother to add my two cents to all the analysis swirling around out there which purports to explain the debacle of this past Tuesday. Suffice it to say that it was a heterogeneous maelstrom of ideological fanaticism, TDS, stupidity, laziness, lack of critical thinking, political and media corruption, short-term economic distress, a spastic hankering for the shiny new thing, and perhaps a heaping helping of the genuinely diabolical. We can't do anything, directly, concerning the Democrats: the ascendency of their party is temporary but virulent and must run its course like any other plague. We can do something about working on combatting their war on America by radically reforming the opposition. We must, first and foremost, prevent the inveterate (and invertebrate) reachers across the aisle of the GOP - i.e., the RINOs - from further consolidating their influence and control. In the face of the unified and well-organized power-mongers of the Democratic Party, these people are worse than useless, the merest Vichy Republicans. That means throwing our resources behind the best the party has to offer, and I will state right here and now, I do not think that includes J.D. Vance, whose continuing connection with the odious Tucker Carlson, as well as his very public waffling on the war with Iran, positively disqualifies him, in my opinion.
Just some initial thoughts after a very rough week from yours truly. I welcome yours.
