Bottoms Up!

I hear it goes well with arugula.

Update: Apparently, an increasingly large number of voters aren't thirsty.

Update II: McCain continues to carve out chunks of Obama's natural constituency:

  1. This has been bugging me for a while now, and as a foreigner I feel safe enough to ask:

    Whats the deal with kool-aid?

  2. Wizard: The etymological roots of the expression go back to the "Rev." Jim Jones, an American leftist whose messianic complex led him to found something called the "Peoples' Temple". He and his followers established a community in Guyana, and the increasingly insane Jones convinced his followers to commit mass suicide by drinking Kool-Aid laced with cyanide (900 people died).

The expression "drinking the Kool-Aid" has entered the lexicon of America politics as a symbol of someone who has swallowed an outrageous lie or advocates a particularly stupid ideological position; there is usually a connotation of willful blindness in support of a candidate or cause; the sacrifice of reason for the "greater good" of party or ideology.

  3. I like that poster! I wish I could hang it in my office. Alas, the rules say otherwise.

  4. Another point concerning that poster, Wizard: not all of Jim Jones' victims volunteered to commit suicide. A lot of them were forced at gunpoint, or just shot dead. Something for all of us to keep in mind, come election day.
