Obama Tries to Cover Up Past Associations
see more pwn and owned pictures
Actually, of course, he's doing a much better job than that picture would suggest, thanks to the mainstream media.
On the subject of bringing Obama's past associations into the public eye - Ayers, Rezko, Wright and all the rest - I think that's fine. But I also believe that, for McCain to have even a remote chance of regaining momentum at this late date, he's going to have to go after the Democrats for their role in creating the current financial crisis. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac represent an overt attempt by Democrats to effect wealth transfer from the hard-working, tax-paying people who have played by the rules to people who were not anywhere near ready to assume the responsibility for the kind of debt that attaches to home ownership. Obama did nothing to buck his party in this conspiracy, while McCain is clearly on record for trying to rein these entities in. I have read on some of the blogs that the McCain camp doesn't want to raise this issue because it could lead to charges of racism (I suppose because the main beneficiaries of the expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act to include the easing of credit underwriting standards are perceived to be minorities). Well, I've got a news flash for you, John; you're going to be called a racist no matter what criticisms you level against Obama. It's already happening with Sarah Palin's statement that Obama was "palling around" with terrorists - an indisputable fact. If McCain isn't prepared to attack this rot at its source during his campaign, what grounds do we have to believe that he would do so as president? How can he even debate Obama on the financial crisis if he isn't willing to name names? How can we be certain that the mess won't be repeated if we aren't assured that our leaders understand precisely how this one came to be? How can the voters make an informed choice if they aren't given the facts? And we all know that the MSM isn't going to tell them, so that leaves only McCain and Palin to clearly make the case.
The only chance McCain has now is to forcefully make that case. At the convention, John, you invited Americans to join you in the fight. We're waiting for you to lead it, and time is running out.
Update: Meanwhile, Palin continues to impress. Talk about your happy warriors!

ReplyDeleteAs they say - the Road to Hell is paved with good intentions. The Democrats probably thought it was a great idea to give loans to poor people - (white, brown, black) - lets not confuse the issue. House prices would eventually double - you always see the estate agents pulling out those charts - and everyone will be rich. That's influx of credit and increase in property prices is what fueled the great stock market boom of the 1990s.
ReplyDeleteHowever there's a lot of suspect collusion going on - Barney Frank the head of the govt body to check up on the US mortgage industry - was actually having an affair with a Fannie Mae banker in charge of pushing for easy loans to high risk customers.
Back in the 1990s and 2004, the Republicans were trying to push for greater checks on Fannie Mae. The Democrats prevented that.
