Assortment

1) The odious Sidney Blumenthal appears to be the latest Clinton zombie called forth to serve in Obama’s government of the undead. Let’s hope he gets his own driver .

2) Rodger Thomas has a great idea: Obama should quit while he’s ahead.

3) Comfort level with Britain’s ability to set intelligent priorities: very low.

4) Jules Crittenden, along with Tim Blair and Mark Steyn, acquire distinction as “notable a-holes”; Paco Enterprises still a humble, unacknowledged colon polyp.

5) Leslie Carbone discusses conservatives and their need to get hep to the new media.

6) Northern Virginia: it may be “occupied”, but it ain’t subdued.

7) Was Machiavelli really…er…. Machiavellian?

The Machiavelli link was fascinating. I have an old copy of "The Prince", but never read the whole thing. Maybe I should give it another try.

Paco, this story is occouring in my town, like, you know, where I live. It has hit national headlines (in Canada).

Basic case is that some student union association has banned charity work for cerebral palsy on the grounds that it only inflicts white males.

My response: How about breast cabncer or sickle-cell anemia?

RebeccaH, Machiavelli was a Renaissance man. He studied ancient history, which was new at the time, and also the evolving physical and philosophical sciences.

You cannot appreciate the import of Machiavelli without understanding his historical period and the ancient references he makes.

So, study renaissance Italy and ancient Greece. And then let's make love.

Truly, this man was a genious. He explained political behaviour before there were poli-sci courses for middle class kids at uni-high.

A Roman salute to you, Gaius!

For those who may have missed it, I've been linking to Blue Crab Boulevard, both here and at Tim's place, for the last couple of years. It's a great blog, and you'll find stuff there that you're not likely to see anywhere else.

Not to worry Paco, you are most assuredly a notable a-hole, and I would be proud to stand beside you in mutual a-holeness.

Thanks, Dean. I knew I could count on your support.

This is America, the land of opportunity. Here any small, colonic polyp can rise to the eminence of true a**holedom by hard work, intelligence, and pissing off the liberals. You go guy!

Thanks, Michael! I could almost hear "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" playing in the background as I read your comment. Watch my smoke!
