Hmm; I've Never Heard it Called That Before

"An Australian MP, Fred Nile, wants to ban topless bathing in order to protect muslims. Mr. Nile stated that topless bathing risked 'raising the ire of Muslim men'."

I guess if you're going to pick a euphemism to apply to the angry Muslim's male member, "ire" really does work better than "Mr. Happy."

Daylight raises the ire of Muslim men.

Soap raises the ire of Muslim men.

Right-handed toilet paper rolls raise the ire of Muslim men.

The female orgasm does NOT raise the ire of Muslim men. They've never seen one.

The US Marines raise the ire of Muslim men... while, oddly, lowering their urine and red corpuscle count...

I would not be surprised if Muslim men actually want their "ire" raised.

I think it's important to respect all the different cultures that make up Australia."

Which, presumably, includes those Australians who don't mind going topless on the beach.

Jeff: Good point, Jeff!

Rebecca: Whoa! Not so fast, there, lady! After all, there's cultures and then there's cultures, and "all" ain't the same thing as "all" - if you follow me.

Our Fred's a bit of an odd case in that he pretty much wants to ban everything. Granted, Australia's Mr Nile isn't quite as eccentric as the US's Mr Phelps, but they come from the same headspace. I don't believe he's achieved anything of substance in his political career at all.

This is strange even for Fred, though; normally he's just interested in appealing to a narrow coalition of extremely conservative Christian voters.

I would have thought that it was more important to try and stop muslim men from going to the beach and oggling, molesting and otherwise annoying women sunbaking on the sand.

Regardless of whether they are top-on or top-off, if they reject the approaches of the Lebanese Lotharios, they can expect a tirade of abuse along the line of "slut, troll, c&nt etc".

Fred Nile's a basket case. Has been for years. TimT's right; there's virtually nothing he doesn't want to ban except perhaps mandatory daily Bible classes... except for Muslims perhaps.

I'm sorry, but I don't see any wisdom in supplying Viagra to the Taliban.

I say, keep their dicks limp, so they can't reproduce.

Rinardman: I agree. In fact, maybe we should be providing them with saltpeter.

Rinardman -- makes it harder, excuse the phrase, for them to hide under the burkas when they're trying to escape...
