The Maximum Hep-Cat Gets Stuck in a Groove

Obama ”vows not to send people to war without cause.”

As opposed to George Bush, who apparently sent people to war just because he thought they needed some exercise. Think what you will of the president’s oratorical and political gifts, his constant potshots at the previous administration ultimately mark him as a small man, a public figure who can’t gain any stature except by climbing atop a caricature of his predecessor. The fact that Obama continues to adopt many of that predecessor’s national security policies also makes him a particularly contemptible form of hypocrite.

Doesn’t matter how smart you are, how well-informed, how well-educated. As Rush Limbaugh always used to say during the Clinton years, ultimately, it’s about character.

  1. And he did it two days in a row. Yesterday, in what will become known as the "Dueling Banjos Speechathon", and today, at the Naval Academy.

Did you notice, Paco, that John McCain was in the audience, because his son was graduating? Obama is a small man AND a creep because of his cheap shots at McCain, who is backing Obama up. I may not agree with McCain, but he's more of a man than Obama will ever be.

Added bonus: Obama has a sore jaw. Maybe that's why he's so pi$$y of late.

  2. Too bad about that jaw. Obama should take Clinton's advice: "Better put some ice on that."

  3. The Won is so good at blaming W for everything that I have to conclude he has spent his life blaming the guy before him instead of getting the job done. I expect he'll gone on doing it for the rest of his term, by which time I hope voters are tired of hearing and vote for the other guy just to hear a new tune.

Wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if the Dems drop him for 2012?

  4. Retread, blaming someone else for problems is a standard tactic in Chicago politics.

I lived there for 5 years; the biggest fraud of the time (aside from Mayor Washington, before he dropped dead at his desk) was the Chicago Housing Authority. They were in charge of all public housing in that fair city, including Cabrini Green. Back in the early 1980's, that place closely resembled Beirut, right down to the sniper fire, all of it from gang activity.

The CHA claimed they weren't getting enough money from the state and the Feds, and the chairman got on TV to make his point.

He made his point all right -- while waving his arms around, people saw that he was wearing a $5000 watch (a Rolex, IIRC).

That's politics in the Windy City. And a major reason why I moved out of there.

  5. He keeps griping about the mess that he was handed; I just want to scream - "Stop whining you big wuss"!

Honestly, can you imagine Bush (or any other adult) continuing to blame others like this? Jeez, get some gonads start governing like a grownup.

  6. Every time Obama blames the Bush for administration, I translate it into "I won, but I don't know what the hell I'm doing."
