Variations on the Teaparty Theme

The spirit of revolt is in the air, even among the folks in white lab coats. 84 Rules draws attention to the Rising of the Chemists, who are protesting the acceptance by Rudy Baum, editor-in-chief of Chemical and Engineering News, of the Cli-Fi hokum being peddled by the Obama administration.

  1. The ACS revolt against Baum is pleasant, but what's very unpleasant is the blatant attempt politicize a professional publication for scientists and engineers.

The socialists are indeed marching on.

TW: swordian. That's AI jargon for "guardian with a sword". I prefer a .45 myself, but otherwise agree.

  2. I'd be more impressed if he knew how to spell consensus.

  3. He's a scientist, mojo - he has to be able to spell? The one I know can barely tie his own shoes!

  5. Jeezum crow, BoaB, that Kile guy is either stark raving or he's trying to write a Swiftian satire (ineptly, I might add).

  6. Rebecca, if he's serious, I recommend that human sacrifices start immediately. Greenpeace and other envirotard groups can pony up their members as the first sacrifices.

After they're gone, there are plenty of politicians around. Between these two groups, humanity ought to be safe for many generations to come.

  7. PS:

I suspect that this dude is serious. Check out his bio at the end:

"Michael Kile is author of No Room at Nature’s Mighty Feast: Reflections on the Growth of Humankind. He is also a Perth playwright. "

Not only does he sound like a contemporary of John P. Holdren, Obama's science czar, he's a playwright. That alone sez it all.

  8. Jeff: I have emailed Tim Blair and suggested that he look into the situation on the ground there.
