Lionel Hampton and his band in an early 50’s jam session.
Bonus video, especially for reader Dean Martin: Bill Haley and the boys in “Rock Around the Clock.”

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Although I watched both events on TV, I'm not real sure where I was when Kennedy was assassinated or when Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly where I was in 1954, when I first heard Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock. It was coming from a 78 rpm record spinning at a very good party.
Life-changing music.
It's a jumpin' tune, to be sure. And the context in which you first heard it sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteLionel always brightens my day. His version of 'On The Sunny Side Of The Street' is the best upper.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Bill Haley. To me he will always be the First King of Rock 'N' Roll.
