"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
One of my favorite songs and one of my favorite singers from that era (although I favor Ella Fitzgerald).
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed! A new talent to me.....which just means I've been deprived until now.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going to cross the line to Bill Haley?

Dean: Bill Haley's just a tad outside the scope of my favorite music, but I'll see what I can do.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that Paco. It's my favorite performance of the song. I have a problem though, and maybe you can help--many years ago I worked in a boiler room and one of the engineers always used to sing: Don't know why / There's no meat behind my fly / Sloppy Rabbi. Ever since then, when I hear Stormy Weather, I hear ol' Bob singing it that way. Help! [Same for Mrs. B too, ever since I sang it to her]
ReplyDeleteAs for finding something of Bill Haley's that fits your m.o.: Crazy Man Crazy is influenced by Cab and his ilk.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on Haley, Bob (and for those alternate lyrics for "Stormy Weather"!)
