Jimmy Lunceford is largely forgotten today (except among swing aficionados), but at his peak, back in the late 30s and early 40s, he was as popular as Duke Ellington and Count Basie. His orchestra was unabashedly a dance band, and the Lunceford organization scored a long string of hits (including one of the best versions of "Blues in the Night"). In the clip below, they perform "Rhythm Is Our Business".
