Hizzoner appeals to the World Court

Mayor Daley wants some backing from the World Court to help him maintain the handgun ban in Chicago. His decision has received the endorsement of the appropriately-named Michael Nutter, mayor of Philadelphia.

Chicago has long been about control. One story about Daley's father has it that he fenced off every vacant lot on the routes between the airport and downtown Chicago for the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Apparently Hizzoner didn't want the delegates to see the garbage strewn land in his city.

This attempt to bypass the Constitution is just another fence. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

So, you see, the current Mayor Daley learned from his father's knee, and learned well.

OK, appealing to a foreign power for assistance in overthrowing the law of the nation...

didn't that used to be called treason?
