Patrick Leahy's court-packing scheme

Senator Cantaloupe thinks retired Supreme Court justices ought to be able to "pinch hit".

How about this, Aunt Pettitoes? How about if we pull you off the mound the next time there's a vote on an issue where you've taken money from some company over whose industry you have oversight responsibilities? Does that sound good to you, 'cause it sure sounds good to me.

Not a boffin* on US politics, but US Dems seem to have the similar whatever-it-takes attitude that the Australian Labor Party has.

Leahy might just be my least favorite Senator. Not as dumb as Patty Murray, just smart enough to be a hypocrite from lily-white Vermont.

Rabidly partisan, and uncaring about who gets hurt in the melee as he attempts to force government in his favored direction [evidently some sort of tyranny run by very liberal/Left old white guys.]

Hey, why are you illustrating the post with a picture of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew?

How about we pull him off the moiund everytime there's a vote on intelligence matters. The man does keep getting our agents killed, after all... That's why they call him 'Leaky Leahy.'

In Australia cantaloupes are called rock melons. It's not often that you get a double metaphor that works so well.
