Well, there go the Lumbees

The Lumbee Indians aren't recognized as a sovereign tribe by the U.S. government, so they've never received the kind of comprehensive "assistance" that other tribes have gotten. Result? They're prospering.

Unfortunately, some of them have decided that they need a splash of that government gravy.

The Lumbees get their government gravy elsewhere, considering that they are at least 75% African-American. Back in the 70s, there was considerable controversy about their being accepted as an Indian tribe at all.

I was *raised* on an Indian reservation, and I've seen many others. Poverty among American Indians is the norm, not the exception.

Lumbees, defend yourself! The Feds are coming to help.

4. 1932 (May 9). A bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate to recognize and enroll the tribe as Cherokee Indians. The bill did not pass.[entry 1345]

In 1934, the future Lumbee revived their claim to Cherokee identity, joining the National Congress of American Indians under the name, "Cherokee Indians of Robeson County

identity theft by lumbee ancestors attempt of a federally recognized tribe HERITAGE !

if they really were indians they would of been sure and not attempted to steal another culture and identity clearly a long running con job started along time ago.

THE NEW YORK HERALD TIMES feb,1872

"THE MULATTO CAPITOL,Scuffleton NC(PEMBROKE NC)"

Scuffletown(pembroke,NC)the Lumbee/Croatan Capitol, got its name from the long scuffle of the whites and the slaves and make freedom under the condition of color, contemptible among the “mulattoes”.I conceive that these “negroes” have been the slaves of Tories driven from the State at the close of the Revolution, and of the emancipated slaves of the Quakers, that they increased and multiplied by accessions from runaways,by the birth rate of force exerted on them an by the necessity of union or the sympathy of all neighboring free negroes with a homogenous Negro settlement.

”NEW YORK TIMES 1872″note*negro settlement not Indian*

CLEAR EVIDENCE OF A NEGRO COMMUNITY NOT INDIANS !! FACT
