An ominous turn of events in Australia

Popular conservative columnist and blogger Andrew Bolt was found guilty in one of those Kafkaesque trials based on political correctness that have been occurring with alarming frequency in so-called democratic nations.

What’s a little freedom of speech compared to the benefits of throwing a bone to the perpetually aggrieved?

  1. I'm sad for Australia (and for us, and for western civilization as a whole in fact). But maybe this will be a wakeup call for the freedom-loving among Australians? It takes more than just commenting on right-leaning blogs. It needs outrage, and local activism. Don't go where Britain went.

And that goes for us Americans too.

  2. Professor (of politics) Robert Manne, however, has spoken out against free speech. Irked by people who see through the AGW fraud, he declares, “I do not believe it makes sense for non-scientists to have views on scientific issues”.

  3. Which, of course, excludes Perfesser Manne, Deadman. An irony that doubtless escapes him.

  4. Does anyone remember when being "transgressive" was cool? Technically, I suppose it still might be but only if the mob says the target is an acceptable one.
