"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Alas, Mr. Pruden is probably right: it's going to be all about race.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for Obama, even that's going to be a tough sell from a half-black man who was actually elected President of the United States.
Obama will announce that he's doing the only thing he can (as a good Progressive Democrat)...spend more, tax more. (yawn) 400 billion for starters. Throw more money and tax the rich is always the motto. The Democrats will yah dee yah dee yah dee. Pass me the remote and the chips. I'm ready for some football.
ReplyDeleteValerie Jared stated today that he will make sure that those who aren't paying their fair share, are. I say, "Pony up, Ms. Slumlord".

Perhaps the political science professor could not find evidence of Tea Party influence in the GOP's 2010 win, but I teach in a political science department, and I used mere observation of Tea Party activity to win a bet with one of my students who happened to be the chief staffer for a Michigan Democratic US Representative.
ReplyDeleteI bet him dinner at a nice place of the winner's choosing that the GOP would take at least 60 seats. I made that bet in early May of 2010, when most 'experts' were saying it would be close.
When he asked how I could make a prediction like that in May, I told him I took off my poli sci hat and just watched the Tea Party events. Those were pretty ordinary Americans, middle-class, a little older than average. Piece of cake. Whether the Tea Parties energized or merely represented the feelings of Middle America didn't really matter as much as what was happening.
