The mayor may want to deal with this personally

Darth Vader showed up at the office of the mayor of Kiev recently to demand a parking spot for his space cruiser.

“Seriously? In triplicate? I find your excessive paperwork requirements…disturbing.”

  1. Such a great line, 'I find your lack of faith...disturbing'. I'd forgotten how much the dialogue made that movie.

Funny how the next pic with Ukraine police actually does looks like out of the first Star Wars. Underlying James Bond-type Cold War allusions gave that movie more impact than the later ones.

(I listened to Radio-Moscow in Asia 1980's and they had heavy American-type accents, 'Maaahs-cow'. Not the clipped euro talk used by movie Soviet villians).

  2. Ah, Darth Vader. Now there's the face that launched a thousand parodies.

I never liked Star Wars much, but there was a joie de vivre and exuberance of imagination to the first SW movie George Lucas made that he never ever attained again in the sequels and prequels. I think Lucas must have started taking himself too seriously, forgotten he was making adventures with comic episodes, and started to think he was making epics and tragedies.

  7. "This is Raydioh Maaahs-cow"

I guess it could have been Idaho on short-wave, Yojimbo, but then there were the 3 hour speeches from the Supreme Soviet, announcing the latest 5 year plan... bombarded into Asia on every second shortwave frequency.
