"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Janet Imcompetano has probably ordered a psychological profile.
ReplyDeleteCategory: Clear and present danger type. It will be out to all Missouri State Police this afternoon.
RIP, Mr. Havel. We need more people like you.
ReplyDeleteThe leading lights of freedom are dying, and it seems all we're left with are the mental pygmies.
ReplyDeleteRIP. Too soon, too soon...
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, Rebecca.
Also the Czechs seem an admirable bunch, if occasionally ambiguous. A Czech friend explained to me that Milos Forman depicts the typical Czech sensibility, and also Milan Kundera.
But Havel was a giant of President Reagan's era. He paid his dues then. Yes only pygmies and pretenders now remain at 'the top', sadly.
Just left Prague and must have been there while this happened although only became aware of it just now. While I was there I visited the Musem of Communism on Na Prikope which is well worth seeing and reminds one just what a diabolical system it was even in its Czech form which was its most benign. It was also a reminder that communism didn't just fall, it was toppled by geat men such as Havel. A life well lived and I hope he felt well deserved satisfaction in his latter days as President in the magnificent palace at Hradcany.
ReplyDeleteDeborah Leigh said... It is truly sad to lose such an ardent patriot. I concur with RebeccaH. Hopefully he will remain an inspiration to those that continue to fight tyranny wherever it is. God bless him, and give comfort to his family and friends.
