Rahm Emanuel: "Never let a crisis go to waste"

So, your honor, what are you going to do with this one?

He'll ask Louis Farrakhan to deploy more troops from his "Nation of Islam", of course.

He'll strut around basking in his badassedness at being the mayor of the most badass city around.

He'll use it as a background threat to us mind-our-own-business quiet types to give in to his demands.

And call for more gun control, let's not forget that one.

They could promote the murder rate as a jobs & business program. For undertakers and funeral homes.

Or, promote Chicago as a euthanasia mecca, for the terminally ill. "Want to end your suffering? Come to Chicago! We'll provide you with the right gang colors, and the wrong neighborhood. We guarantee you won't last a day!"

R-man: Watch out! I think he's getting ready to pull a killer move, perhaps a grand battement en cloche or something.

Yeah, if he performs it in front of City Hall with live TV coverage, that'll have the gangs running in fear.

So, Chicago's murder rate is 19.4 per 100,000?

From the 2009 illinois uniform crime report (for some unknown reason, 2009 is the latest available) the murder rate in the rest of Illinois was 3.1. The City of Chicago by itself was responsible for 59.3% of all murders in Illinois

That 19.4 looks worse if you break it down by neighborhood . For example Roseland has a rate of 40.7 per 100,000 (it is probably worse now as that data is a few years old)

Judging from past experience in Chicago, they will try to manipulate the statistics, pass gun control aimed at the law abiding, blame someone else (or other states) and/or waste enormous amounts of money.
