Oh my! Obama's campaign is starting to sound desperate

Those frantic fund-raising emails are getting shriller.

I understand, though, that the Obama campaign is preparing to initiate a new approach to raising money...

"I'll give you hope, but I want your change!"

  1. "We expect Mitt Romney and the Republicans to outspend us… our time to close the gap is dwindling"

    From opensecrets.org :
    Obama has raised $300,134,364 vs Romney's $153,537,758
    Obama has spent $204,901,024 vs Romney's $131,044,967
    Obama's cash on hand : $97,536,739 vs Romney's $22,505,830

I doubt he is encouraging his supporters to give to the Romney campaign to close the gap so one can only conclude the Obama campaign is REALLY bad at math. Or they are political hacks who'll say anything.

Let's all try to remember Obama's concern in 2008 about "getting outspent by a margin that negates all the hard work … volunteers are doing" : opensecrets.org says McCain raised $368million and spent $333million while Obama raised $745million and spent $730million.

  2. Excellent caption.
No sign yet of the "Romney is an alien and his people have used anal probes on my livestock" angle? Well, I guess there's still time.

  6. I get the pleadings from the various Dem campaign groups, and while they're getting shriller they still afford some amusement for their subject headers.

My favorite so far is the header "Clueless" on a pitch from John Kerry. I sometimes suspect the person who actually writes these of having a sense of humor.

The ones purportedly from Patty Murray typically have subject headers that are particularly weird, which is quite in line with her career.
