I think I may have missed Earth Hour this year, but I did want to commemorate it, however tardily, by citing Lord Byron's apocalyptic poem, "Darkness".
If he were writing today, Byron might have entitled his poem, "Hey, what if the whole world looked like North Korea, 24/7?"
The Green paradigm: to be accomplished without concentration camps...unless they're absolutely necessary.

You didn't miss "Earth Hour," you were just celebrating Human Achievement Hour!

ReplyDeleteI missed Earth Hour too, but since I was simply carrying on with my usual, electricity-enhanced life, it was no great failure.
ReplyDeleteThat Lord Byron sure was a gloomy Gus, wasn't he?
I should have said, my "carbon-fueled" life, as I indulged some sins against Gaia that didn't require electricity per se.
ReplyDeleteDeborah said...But NK has...oh, wait.
ReplyDeleteRichard and I were sitting at our post-gun show dinner when the news of Earth Hour flickered like a flourescent light. At least my the light above the stove was on.
RebeccaH,
ReplyDeleteByron was a great person; he incidentally wrote poetry, much of which I have not read, that of which I read I do not like.
BUT, this poem of his, Darkness, is magnificent.
Thanks for introducing me to it, Paco. I shall buy products in your stores wherever I see them in the future.
