Sorry, got to run

I’ve suddenly got an urge to go and check out some yard sales.

When I lived in San Diego years ago, a couple of local "yard-salers" purchased several old paintings at an estate sale in Arizona for about $60. Most were not of any real value, but two of them turned out to be by Martin Johnson Heade that later sold for more than a $1 Million combined. I got to handle them (very gently) at the commercial photo lab / studio where I worked, when we made large format transparencies of them for the auction catalog.

Spiny: It does happen. Just not to me.

This story, and Antiques Roadshow, makes you wonder how many unrecognized treasures end up being thrown out with the trash.

R-man: Unfortunately, whenever I go searching through the trash, all I find is more trash.
