A refreshing read. Apart from the straightforward political views, I had slipped into believing Duke just 'plays himself' and was artless, but I see that's quite wrong.
In an interview once, shortly before he died, John Wayne said "I know everything there is to know about the West." Meaning America's West, of course, and he did. He could probably have written a dissertation that anybody would love to read.

ReplyDeleteI've watched a couple of the Duke's movies lately, on Amazon Prime, and have several more in my watchlist.
