The NYT beclowns itself

The paper of record (and a popular emergency sub for toilet paper - it's so soft and aborbent!) is wallowing in its Hillary Clinton mogambo by, among other things, taking silly potshots at Marco Rubio. Ace of Spades has a good post up about the Times and its discovery of Rubio's "luxury speedboat", and also a follow-up on the Gray Lady's snit over being corrected by Politico, of all outfits.

Update: Oh, I get it. "Luxury speed boat" implies "cigarette boat", which, as everyone knows, was very popular with drug kingpins in South Florida back in the day. And they were mostly Hispanic, as is Rubio, so, you know, connect the dots.

Update II: Friend Smitty brings the blowback.

  1. Hmmm, I wonder if he was ever chased by a pastel wearing, Ferrari Daytona driving detective with a black sidekick, back in the 80's?

  3. I smell Dem desperation, and I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

  4. There's also the 'luxury speed boat' up in Kennebunkport, used by Bush Sr for lobster snuggling.

    Cheers

  5. I can drive down any road in Florida and find boats that size or bigger parked out behind the double wide. There's a helluva lot of nice, warm water here, and folks have a tendency to go out and play in it. I suppose that having a boat, a vehicle, and a place to park same is incomprehensible to the NYT people who are probably paying out the butt for a 400 SF apartment.

Hell, my son's fishing boat is bigger.

  6. My former uncle in Miami that we believe augmented his income considerably with his frequent "fishing expeditions" off the coast of Colombia had a really, REALLY nice yacht.

  7. Swampy: Well, he can forget about running for president as a Republican if the NYT finds out about it.

  8. I think he was a Democrat so he'd be okay for that presidential run if he were still alive....of course, being dead has never been a serious impediment for a Democrat candidate. Lots of zombies running for the Democratic nomination.
