Nah, Rebecca. The woman wasn't threatening her. In such a case the cops would consider the shooting as a crime. Granny can say the she feared for her life when the perp tried to take her arm, especially if she widdled a little (then or later when the cops came). That adds verisimilitude to the story. That's what I was told in a class for a concealed carry license.
On the other hand, the woman is obviously an accessory to attempted robbery. I hope she gets a prison sentence like her boyfriend.
