Apocryphal, but correct
I don't know that there's evidence Thomas Jefferson ever really said this, but it's right on the money: "Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."
We should remember that apocryphal comments from historical figures are often corrupted from things they actually said, but usually demonstrate a grain of truth. I have no doubt Thomas Jefferson (and his American Continental cohorts) had this same thought, whether they expressed it in general English(English, their native tongue) or not.
