A NeverNeverTrumper

"Conservative" pundit George Will has been writing political columns for decades, so I guess it was inevitable that the judgement valve on his bloviator would eventually blow a gasket. He thinks it would be great if the Republicans lost the House this November, because that would put Trump and his supporters in their place.

I haven't read anything by George Will in ages. He showed his true colors long ago.

And where exactly is our place, George Will?

Considering the GOP is fighting Trump nearly as hard as the Dems are, that's pretty funny.

Wouldn't it put Trump in his place if Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell were re-elected?

There will be some celebrating over Romney's win in Utah, I suppose, but really - Mitt couldn't lay a glove on Obama, and they're sending him into the arena against Trump?

Prayers and good wishes, for my brother Greg, an NYFD 9/11 survivor. Going to hospital for tests on severe chest pains. They say it's not a heart attack but they don't know what it is.

Prayers offered. Hope he gets better soon.

Prayer offered, Greg.

Many seem terrified that Trump will make America great again; because that would be such a terrible thing/sarcasm.

WTH is wrong with the Democrats and Deep State that they want to see the U.S.A. destroyed?
Complete insanity.

Mike,
They don't think the USA will be destroyed, not at any rate their parts of it. I think it is a bit like this: The Progs do not think that their lifestyles will actually change; they'll still be rich, dumb and happy. They are complacent, and cannot envisage things really changing. Therefore, they put their partisan feelings above the good of the nation, which they expect will get along just fine no matter what they do. In past ages the comparable people in the great empires, like the Roman or Byzantine during their declines, put their domestic squabbling above the external threats, because they were complacent about the survival of their world. It was only when the end was clearly visible, even to the stupidest, that they realized the jig was up and they were going down too.

Also all too many of them hate Western Civ and liberty for those ghastly rednecks and Christians. The proles should know their place and obey their betters (ie the Progs). This is going on in the EU too. The Eurocrats cannot see the disaster their policies are bringing on, or won't admit it, so they screech about those recalcitrant "reactionaries" trying to thwart them.

A lot of the hostility to Trump centers on who his supporters are and his own rather boorish behavior. It's a class thing. What passes for the upper classes in the USA despise Trump and his supporters. He's not our kind, dahling, is their attitude. That, I think, is what motivates the formerly conservative Never-Trumpers as well as the Progs. Of course, with the latter there is also the consideration that he shoved them off their gravy train and broke their rice bowls by preventing them from grabbing the lucrative political jobs they expected from Hillary. And being denied power, that's the worst of all for the power hungry.

It is pretty plain from the wreck the Obama Administration made of everything it touched that the Progs are not there to make things better for the people, as they claim. Trump has done better in a year-and-a-half at bettering things for actual people than Obama did in eight years. Even their signature issue, Obamacare, wasn't devised so as to make anything better, just to expand Federal control over the medical services (that he was ruining them in the process was unimportant to Obama, control was the goal).

Sic transit gloria mundi.
