Alone, again

Yesterday we had to drive to Virginia to deliver Maggie to her Dad, but not before she baked me some chocolate-chip cookies (which were excellent, incidentally)...

I think Maggie's favorite thing to do was to go to the swimming pool. I don't think I had been in a swimming pool in 20 years, and I felt a little self-conscious at first, but it turned out alright. I wasn't in any worse shape than most of the other old duffers; with six or seven of us in the pool, it looked like the manatee exhibit at Sea World.

Frankly, I think we moved out of Virginia just in time: "Giant Hogweed, a plant that can cause burns and blindness, found in Virginia".

Moon over Brunswick County. Very North Carolina...

Ha! It ain't me. I didn't go to the beach today: "Mysterious sonar 'anomaly' off NC could be shipwreck, rock formation — 'or otherwise'".

Yeah I waddled into the water in Fiji couple of years back when no one was looking, embarrassing what too much coffee can do to your waistline.

Love that moon. Reminds me of the scene in The Wild One where Brando takes Mary Murphy on a night ride through moonlit trees. What are those willowy trees that line old roads in the South?

Could be anything from honey locust to oaks with Spanish moss. Could also be actual willows if the roads are alongside a creek.

Isn't the house rather empty and silent now that Miss Maggie has gone home? I know my house was whenever the grandkids departed.

Perhaps when Maggie returns, she could have a little stand selling Maggie's Magnificent Cookies...and sweet tea. Shark Tank? It has to start somewhere. She could have her own pool.

That's because you aren't an old duffer. Maybe a duffer but not an old one. If you think your OD now, what would you be when you're 80 or 90.

I laughed so loud that the cats sat up.

That moon picture is so beautiful. Did you happen to see a caped figure wearing a tricorne hat on horseback galloping nearby?

Looked up Honey Locusts and Oaks with Spanish Moss and they are the trees I've been seeing in movies like Little Foxes, thanks Paco. Beautiful scenery.

Here's that scene from the Mary & Marlon movie to the tune of Claire de Lune:

Could be Honey Locusts, but I don't know where the movie was shot.

Great moon shot.

Reminds me of a painting I loved as a kid, showing a deer stag with its antlers silhouetted against a full moon.

All that photo needs is a deer stag; or the silhouette of an eight foot bigfoot glowering at the photographer with red eyes.

Maggie looks totally in control.
