But with Francis in charge, it's likely to be a near-run thing. Not only has his response to the abomination of priestly sexual predation on children been almost flippantly inadequate, he persists in thinking of himself as an activist in secular matters - as his ally, Cardinal Cubich, the Archbishop of Chicago, ham-fistedly pointed out: "The pope has a bigger agenda. He’s gotta get on with other things, of talking about the environment and protecting migrants and carrying on the work of the Church".
Someone (unfortunately I do not recollect who it was) once said that never does the church so closely resemble Our Lord as when broken and betrayed from within. I do not remember a moment in my lifetime when the betrayal has run this far up the chain of command.
By the way, Cardinal Cubich made his statement shortly after the satirical site, the Babylon Bee, ran the following piece: "Pope Says He Will Address Sex Abuse Scandal Once He’s Finished Talking About Climate Change".
Muggeridge's Law is alive and well.

Maybe he'll blame the priestly pedophilia on climate change.
I often hope a religion is true so its leaders get what they deserve. It's depressing how often what they deserve is not a good thing.
I really feel for the truly devout. This must really test their faith.
Doesn't test mine at all. Romans 3:2 " let God be true and every man a liar."
