No, the Governor of Arizona should not pick Cindy McCain to replace her husband as senator

We can really do without dynasties, thank you very much.

They had this political dynasty in south India where the most popular actor 'MGR' became chief minister. Then he died and it was between his on-screen wife and his real one who'd be leader. The actress won. Politics as theatre.

Agreed. America has had enough of dynasties, because they do not end well. Arizonans should get off their lazy butts and do the due diligence.

Darn right RebeccaH.
I'm not sure about the governor but I have high hopes he isn't going to do that.
He seems like a non-establishment icehole who's done some good stuff around here, but he is going all in on The War On Opioids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so I'm not sure.

Now, I didn't like McCain at all, I'm not going to bash him but I am totally sick of all the hagiographies I've had to see on TV and the procession on the highway last night reminded me all too much of the OJ/White Bronco deal.

Veeshir: I think a lot of the hagiographical stuff is just the media using McCain as a club to bash Trump. And I think you're probably right about the governor; I wouldn't think he'd waste an opportunity like this.

Rebecca: Right on! No more Kennedys, no more Clintons (who came close, but ultimately failed to create a dynasty), no more Bushes.

But... what if it's her turn?

Life imitating art.

Familial dynasties are contrary to all that is right and proper in the American political system.

The first American dynasty was the Penns. William Penn was fair, according to the Lenape and other tribes. He left his son Thomas in charge when he returned to England. Thomas wasn't an ethical man like his father. Example, he perpetrated the worst land grab in our history known as the Walking Purchase or Walking Agreement. He stole a large amount of land from the Lenape.

Perhaps it is the years that have taken our memory of history. We are destined to repeat our mistakes. So no, we don't need another dynasty.
