Rare-species rustler apprehended!

Here's a guy who committed a crime that can only be done in my neck of the woods: "NC man accused of poaching Venus flytraps faces 73 felonies".

From the article: "The small, carnivorous plants only naturally grow in one spot on Earth: a 70-mile radius around Wilmington."

What would have made this story much more interesting would be if the Venus flytraps had ganged up and devoured him.

I didn't know that about Venus Fly Traps. Huh.

You should see what they do to cactus rustlers out here. They don't take kindly to that. Heck, you're not even supposed to burn dead ones.

Yeah, I remember when I lived out there, the authorities were pretty fussy about cacti. Sure miss 'em.

I didn't know about Venus flytraps either. I thought they were probably tropical, or something. Learn something new every day.

Also, outside of botanical gardens, why would anybody want one? Cactus I understand, I love them, but a carnivorous plant?
