Meanwhile, in Australia...

Labor loses an unlosable election.

Apparently, a majority of voters don't find climate change as urgent as the Labor Party does. Although, I am sure there's more going on here. I leave it to our on-site reporters to give us the lowdown.

Labor started their campaign by going full Hillary. Cane toads instead of deplorables, though.

Plus "If you don't like it, don't vote for us." I'm sure it seemed incredibly witty at the time. But who's laughing now?

Yes the ALP always wanted us to be like the Scandinavians/Germans and had their eyes on our savings to fund their big plans including 'climate change'. As retirees' savings are also earmarked for their children, they don't see why government middle man is needed 'for future generations' and don't trust the ALP at all any more.

Welcome Prime Minister Sco-Mo (Scott Morrison), now elected in his own right. A very ordinary but sensible and good man whose Christian faith must help him cope with the pressures of running the gauntlet. He has no reform agendas, but new right wing voices have emerged to at least balance the hysterical left: Senator Fraser Anning's party was prominent, Clive Palmer's 'Trumpish' party got a lot of votes. Anning would be a good leader, Palmer not: maybe he resembles Chris Christie in some ways.

"Palmer not: maybe he resembles Chris Christie in some ways."
Indeed. Nine out of ten tailors can't tell them apart.

As far as I can determine there were only two people in Australia who predicted that Scott Morrison would win -- Spectator Australia Editor Rowan Dean and me. We have both been predicting his victory since former PM Malcolm Turnbull was dumped.

I'm very pleased to see that President Trump also agrees with me.
Australian Financial Review, May 19:
"Mr Trump took to Twitter a short-time after concluding a round a golf at his resort outside Washington on Saturday afternoon (Sunday AEST) to comment on the Coalition victory, referring to Mr Morrison by first name.

'Congratulations to Scott on a GREAT WIN!' Mr Trump wrote."

Well done, Australia. Vote by vote the world is starting to free itself from the grip of the soft totalitarians before it becomes hard totalitarianism.

Hahaha! True.

Another success for conservatives in the result, one that hasn't been given much attention - former Immigration Minister Peter Dutton beat aggressive activist campaigning and retained his seat. With - suck on this, GetUp! - an INCREASED majority.
Dutton took a strong stand against the refugee industry. His predecessor in the role was Scott Morrison, who laid down a hard line after the disaster of the Labor years, but Dutton made the job his own. To the extent that he was second only to Tony Abbott as a target for the left.
Peter Dutton is one we definitely need on the team.

Sounded to me like Labour campaigned on the platform the Democrats want to use here next year.
