Nice visit

Granddaughter Maggie just finished up a ten-day visit, and, as always, it was such a pleasure to have her here.

Shepherdess mode.

Checking out a full-size statue of a bull outside of the Smoke House restaurant (an absolutely fabulous bbq joint in Southport, NC).

A sweet looking child.
That shepherdess pic has a touch of 'One day, all this will be mine!'

Hmmm...m'y-e-s...Now that you mention it, she does seem to be looking about with an appraising eye. She is a sweet child, but, er, maybe, just to be on the safe side, I'll keep the details of the will and the insurance policies secret for now.

She does seem a bit serious about something.

I remember her informing you she has a "plan". Maybe she's considering adjustments to it.

Wow, time flies. She's growing fast.

R-man: That's right! I had forgotten all about...the plan!

“Do you mean to tell me, Katie Scarlett O'Hara, that Tara, that land, doesn't mean anything to you? Why, land is the only thing in the world worth workin' for, worth fightin' for..." You're looking at it all wrong, she'll save the farm one day.

A lovely child, but, yes, I would lock up the will and insurance policies. Y'know, just in case....

She already has it. She just let's the grownups think they have it.

Wow! How old is she? What grade?Maggie's spurting right up! And gettin' prettier by the day! I'd say that Daddy will have his hands full chasin' them off, but Maggie's expression says she'll have it under contol. There's a plan for everything.

Is there a cotillion in her future?

"Is there a cotillion in her future?"

[Scratches head and frowns in bafflement]

A cotillion? Naw, nuthin' like that much. I mean, I wish I had a cotillion dollars to spread around, but my resources just don't extend that far.

rinardman said...

Yeah, if you were a cotillionaire, you could have bought that Richard Petty Superbird, and not even broken a sweat.

Deborah said...

Why the bafflement? Don't all fine young southern ladies go to cotillion to show off what they learned in cotillion school? Not just your money. The family would pitch in. Did you know there is a national junior cotillion organization?

Deborah said...

Paco, are you evacuating? How bout the other Pacos? God bless y'all! Prayers up!

Cotillion school. Thanks for that Deborah, this is the kind of US culture I like to learn about, not the Hollywood celebrity stuff. It's like our 'finishing school', glad to see it's still going on.

Looks like Oak Island is just on the northern tip of the evacuation zone.

Glad to oblige, Bruce. Anything for a friend. I don't know much. We weren't in the social circle where these were observed. There is cotillion, and there is debutante balls. Cotillion is a southern thing, whereas debutante is northern. I was surprised that there is a national junior cotillion organization.

Re:Oak Island. Wrong Oak Island. The one of tv fame is in Nova Scotia.
