I don't believe the Chinese government engineered this disease, but I absolutely do believe they saw an opportunity and are taking advantage of it to damage the US and weaken the rest of the world. It's immaterial to them if they lose a few thousand of their own people (these are the same people who are harvesting organs from Uighurs and political prisoners after all) if they can shut down our economies.
