Happy Feet Friday

Trumpet greats Roy “Little Jazz” Eldridge and Charlie Shavers face off in this wide open jam session from 1952. They are more than ably assisted by Benny Carter (alto sax); Flip Phillips and Lester Young (tenor sax); Oscar Peterson (piano); Barney Kessel (guitar); Ray Brown (bass); and Buddy Rich (drums).

So many great names there. Lee Konitz was in the postwar younger set, last survivior of 'the cool' generation, died with the corona. Had a good life, but it's the end of an era.
