Fair weather patriots
If you love this country and its institutions, then go all in. If you're not all in, then please don't make a feeble attempt to act like you are - a la our newest humiliated pussy celebrity, Drew Brees.

Just when you thought it was safe to watch the NFL. I saw his ritual apology on some local news but nobody was telling me what he had said. That's fairly milquetoast, but the media was treating it as if he'd supported apartheid and reinstituting slavery.
I wonder, what people who are looking at that after a week of violent pillaging and riots in the name of calling us all racists are thinking about it.
Then he should have kept his mouth shut. It looks far worse to speak out and then climb down after being cowed by the mob than to maintain silence in the first place.
I wish some of these people WOULD keep quiet. I'm sick to death of being lectured and hectored that this is a "white problem", that we're all upholding "white supremacy", that we refuse to have a conversation about race. The people who say that junk don't want to have a conversation about race. If they did, they'd have to admit that some of the terrible consequences in black communities are of their own making. Poor George Floyd went from being the Outrage to being an Excuse, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have wanted to be remembered that way. Furthermore, if inequality is such a big problem in America, how did we get all those minority mayors, governors, representatives, sheriffs, police chiefs, celebrities (big mouth sports celebrities in particular), and even a black President?

Off topic, but following the link I spotted another article titled 'About That Scary Hydroxychloroquine Study'. Quote: "If we learn that hydroxychloroquine is helpful mitigating the harm coronavirus — and that’s still a big if; a new study today shows that it is not effective as a prophylactic — we can probably thank knee-jerk anti-Trumpism for delays." Excuse me? Did the National Review actually publish an article that actually criticises anti-Trumpism?

I'm totally with you, Rebecca. The racial angle is almost total b.s., for all the reasons you cite.

I know football is incredibly demanding physically, so I'm not saying he's a pussy, but Brees still needs to turn in his Man Card.
Moral pussiness is a state of mind.
