Yeah, until the leftist rage mob gets wound up, and comes after them. Then they'll probably change the nomination to Joe Biden because "he'll bring peace to war torn American Dimocrat run cities."
It's amazing that they actually nominated Trump seeing as he's an orange racist murderer, y'all. It'll be even more amazing if they actually give it to him, but it doesn't matter if they don't. They've so devalued the Nobel Peace Prize to date that I don't see it as much of an honor.
I still can't see what Obama got the Prize for. So that 'tempers my enthusiasm' shall we say.
I just had a lively discussion with a prospective 'friend' who I think was trying to convert me to the cause. Some new book by 'an American Evangelical' about how her folks are all pro-Trump racist yada yada.. I tried to explain what a load of garbage that all is (reviving Nixon era politics for one thing, so 50 years ago). He used the usual 'You won't listen' subterfuges, I explained how his 'arguments' were muddled or fallacious, then he said 'I have to go now' of course. Imagine, way over here people who don't even vote are obsessed with US politics. It's like some sort of cult, as many have noticed.
I'd be torn on that if I were Trump.
On the one hand, he deserves it for what it's supposed to stand for.
On the other hand, for decades it's been given to lefty heroes who did jack and squat for actual peace.
Being put in company with Obama, Al Gore, Mohamed ElBaradei, Yassir Arafat, the IAEA and the International Band of Idiots against Landmines would not be my idea of an honor.
Yes the opposition is so fractured and grasping at straws that some are trying to revive the 'right wing Southern Baptist' boogieman of the Nixon era, hoping a few old folks will be enthused, or it will work with the young who don't know that old canard. I guess the 'Trump hates the military', 'Trump caused Covid', 'white supremacists' bits aren't getting traction so they're digging deep into old files.
But yeah there are people who believe Trump will be elected by the votes of some vast Evangelical conspiracy, because they've seen it on TV right (BBC maybe)?
This guy even mentioned Billy Graham to me, like that stuff from the 1960s is still going on. Then he was offended when I laughed at his Rip Van Winkle ignorance: unfortunately a lot of those old conservative churches current folks are 'woke' now, several generations on. You can't rely on any voting bloc except people with sense.
Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for getting elected President of the United States while being a "bright, clean, and articulate" black man. It was just that simple. Don't tell me Norwegians aren't soft racists.
