Our enemy, the state

"FBI Operatives Likely 'Unindicted Co-Conspirators', Organizers Of Capitol Riot".

When you take a look at the FBI, it really has left a long trail of political corruption and flat-out incompetence (remember the scandal of a few years back involving the enormous problems with the reliability of its forensic lab).

Abolish the damned thing and start over, or merge its functions with some other agency.

the only place to move it under would be Homeland Security and what difference would it make, really, same people, same stuff, different acronym.

back in the 90's the House passed The Commerce Dismantling Act... and I worried, but my boss said "don't worry Tom, the worst that will happen will be that you're reassigned to the USPTO..."

No doubt you're right. There were constant rumors (and one or two serious attempts) to close down the federal agency where I used to work, and I used to joke that we'd probably just wind up at the Dept. of Commerce if that ever happened (which it didn't, by the way).

Washington D.C. is riddled with redundant agencies, of which the FBI is one. A lot of them could be merged, or done away with altogether, to our benefit.
