My engineering degree project was a water powered generator.
A 6' diameter water wheel using 3' threaded rods, with double electrical outlet boxes to catch the water, a bunch of wheels with fan belts, one gear pair as the final torque was high, hooked to a double point GM car generator connected to a car's fuse box.
So naturally I moved to a desert.

Yeah, but if you can find a stream, you'll know how to build a water-powered generator, and it'll be the only one in town.

Nice masonry work, and a sound design. But I hoping to see a generator ....

Next project: destroy the dam by remote control aircraft dropping bombs. Woo hoo!

Mechanical engineers build weapons, Civil engineers build targets.

Combat engineers use the weapons to blow up the targets! Essayons!
