Classical corner

A selection from The Hours, by Philip Glass, a leading exponent of minimalism

  1. You can always count of Philip Glass for some toe tapping melodies.

My favorite Glass parody is Peter Schikele's "Einstein on the Fritz"

I mean, everybody has a favorite Glass parody, right? To listen to as you swap David Mamet jokes?

  2. I mean hey, my own favorite Mamet joke is:

A panhandler asks a man on the street for spare change. The man says "Neither a borrower nor a lender be... Shakespeare."

To which the panhandler responds "F*ck you... Mamet."

  4. Thanks Stephen, I laughed all through Fritz, from struggling with some of those overblown Glass works years ago (overblown glass?) which had great moments but seemed way too long.

I still enjoy Steve Reich's later stuff in that genre - He keeps it shorter and has new interesting sounds. Doesn't overstay the welcome.
