"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
You can always count of Philip Glass for some toe tapping melodies.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Glass parody is Peter Schikele's "Einstein on the Fritz"
I mean, everybody has a favorite Glass parody, right? To listen to as you swap David Mamet jokes?
I mean hey, my own favorite Mamet joke is:
ReplyDeleteA panhandler asks a man on the street for spare change. The man says "Neither a borrower nor a lender be... Shakespeare."
To which the panhandler responds "F*ck you... Mamet."
Just listened to Einstein on the Fritz; subtly hilarious!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephen, I laughed all through Fritz, from struggling with some of those overblown Glass works years ago (overblown glass?) which had great moments but seemed way too long.
ReplyDeleteI still enjoy Steve Reich's later stuff in that genre - He keeps it shorter and has new interesting sounds. Doesn't overstay the welcome.
