I think my initial response would be, "Hey! You're getting the upholstery all wet!"
I dunno, they kind of imply that thunderbirding is more desirable than just plain driving a car, so I would think it would be easier on the drivetrain. It would probably be okay as long as you didn't excessively thunderbird your Fairlane.
