"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Love that graphic.
ReplyDeleteI want a bottle of whiskey bigger than me, I also want a bottle of whiskey I need a corkscrew to open. Needs a bigger revolver though.
I do wonder why they advertise Kentucky whiskey in AZ like that.
The most drank whiskey around here seems to be Fireball.
Which is to whiskey as a vente, double, half-caff, 2% mochachino with a drizzle is to coffee.
Yeah, I like the graphic, too. And I also love the general bizarreness of the ad. I was baffled by the Arizona setting for a Kentucky whiskey. Also, who is that character? He looks like one of Pancho Villa's border jumping bandits - except I'm not sure a self-respecting bandit would have been caught dead carrying a tiny revolver like that. Or is he one of the Rurales - in which case, what's he doing in Arizona?
ReplyDeleteThat image is goofy enough to be neat. Stupid as it is, I like it. Though I don't think I'd be sheltering behind the bottle, nor would I be defending it with that cute little peashooter. I think a 1911 in a Wild Bunch holster would be the thing. And I'm a Stetson or Akubra kind of guy, not a sombrero wearer.
ReplyDeleteAlthough... I do have a Galco leather shoulder rig for my 1911, and every time I watch Last Man Standing I am sorely tempted to buy another one to construct a double rig (fortunately I also have a second 1911). Then I'd like to see the desperadoes bold enough to look sideways at my whiskey!
Ah, Last Man Standing! Every red-blooded American male's fantasy.
ReplyDeleteA double rig would be cool. With respect to your single rig, let me ask you: does it print, much, beneath a light jacket, or does it stay pretty well concealed? I have a shoulder holster, and I like it, but I don't think I've ever worn it out and about. I'd like to start wearing it on some occasions, though, because it will hold semi-autos with big, double-stack magazine capacities, which is more comforting than the single-stack sub-compact I carry now in a pocket holster.
My Galco rig does not print under a sport coat or jacket. But I specifically got the vertical design. I also have a Blackhawk nylon shoulder holster for my Glock 21, and it carries the pistol horizontally, which is more likely to print.
ReplyDeleteMy current EDC is an S&W Shield 2.0 in 9mm in a hip holster, which hides nicely beneath an untucked shirt. Mine is the older single stack model so I have eight rounds in the gun and a seven round mag in the opposite pocket. I bought it just a couple months before S&W announced their staggered magazine model... oh well, if 15 rounds isn't enough, I have really screwed up.
Anyway, the Galco is a classic rig that goes well with pin stripes. I do also have a Wild Bunch holster for those rare occasions I open carry, which is generally only when I'm en route to shoot targets or steel.
