I haven't seen this movie, bit it looks promising: "If You Liked ‘Top Gun’ You Have To See The Showstopping Korean War Drama ‘Devotion’".
The handmaidens of tyranny: "Elon Musk Accuses Apple Of Being An Enemy Of Free Speech". Which it is, of course.
Are the alphabet agencies now the Main Enemy? "Ex-CIA Wonk Explains the Dangers of Free Speech". The problem, naturally, is that many CIA wonks who are still actively employed with the agency feel the same way.
Filtering crimes through the Narrative Strainer: "Why the Media Have Shifted Gears on the VA Walmart Shooting".
Sorry about that! "Australia to Cancel or Refund Tens of Thousands of Fines Issued During COVID Pandemic – Government Lawyers Admit Some Fines were ‘Invalid’". And yet, there are many people who will continue to believe that the government's heart (pardon the oxymoron) was in the right place, and it was all for the common good (not just in Australia, but here in the states, too).
If the Alphabet Agencies aren’t our main enemy, I’d hate to see who is.
ReplyDeleteCruise liners are the terror de jour down here. Bringing covid carrying tourists. It's hard to find anyone who actually gives a damn.
ReplyDeleteThe governments are talking tough but as far as I can see it's just talk. My theory is that they're edging away from mandates to cover themselves against legal action.
'So, you inhaled toxins from your mask? Did you keep wearing it after we went from mandates to strong recommendations? Well, then, that's when the damage occurred. We knew there was a risk and we we careful not to prolong the mandates too long. Sorry, no liability on your part.'
Here in WA, Masky Mark has problems enough without his police chief calling a covid SOE. We're buying coal from the eastern states because miners say it's not worth their time to mine it here; the nurses are taking industrial action over pay, and the cops are unhappy too. It would be a brave public official who would risk the utter indifference of the people by calling a covid alert.
The COVID fines that are being reversed are only in New South Wales,
ReplyDeletethe least draconian of the states and territories. Even so, the government is not saying the concept of the fines were morally wrong but just a procedural error in not explaining the offence correctly.
Good on the three young blokes that followed through with this. One of them was fined because he was sitting on a park bench when the only excuse for being outdoors was exercise.
The state issued 62000 fines and 33000 of them have now been "excused".
The whole lot should be reversed and apologies issued, but I won't hold my breath.
"Ex-CIA Wonk Explains the Dangers of Free Speech"
ReplyDeleteActually, that headline isn't quite accurate. What it really said was "Ex-CIA Wonk Explains the Dangers of Free Speech for thee."
The alacrity with which the Left has moved toward outright censorship is amazing. Where is the vaunted ACLU on this matter? Busy watching a squirrel?
