Surrounded

Sometimes, as a conservative, I feel like Paraguay during the War of the Triple Alliance. This war featured little Paraguay against three other countries - Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. It didn't end well for Paraguay.

Conservatives today face a similar war against three main enemies: the Democratic Party and its allies in the executive and judicial branches of government; the media and "private" social networks, which represent the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party; and RINOs, Republican pushovers who think they're still negotiating with the party of Scoop Jackson and Hubert Humphrey.  The first two groups are the true believers, enemies that no longer pretend to be interested in anything other than the extirpation of our traditional society. That, I can at least understand: it's what totalitarians do. The last group is, for me, the most vexing, in that it doesn't passionately believe in anything, and completely lacks the will to power (See "House Moderates Aim to Be Counterweight to Freedom Caucus"). The RINOs are nothing but human obstacles, who are perpetually terrified that the people are going to rock the boat with those pesky principles of theirs.

This is why I agree with those who call for change from the ground up, beginning with state and local politics. Waiting for Republicans at the national level to ever restore traditional American values and commonsensical domestic and foreign policies is the most forlorn of hopes.

  1. Paraguay had the coolest name for a strongman leader: Alberto Stroessner.

Though I also like the name of Peru's former hopelessly corrupt Presidente: Alberto Fujimori.

  2. That reminds me of when I visit my family.
I've never, ever lied to my nieces, they know that.
We've discussed it, I've told them I can't answer if I don't want to answer questions.
Now that they're all educated so they know I'm a liar.
Nobody can figure out why I haven't been to NY to visit in years.
