He plays that guitar like he's got eyes in his fingertips.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember Charo? The "coochi, coochi" girl from TV? Did you know she plays the guitar, too? The audio on this clip is terrible, but you get the idea. Apparently, she was twice voted best flamenco guitarist in the world by Guitar Player Magazine.
ReplyDeleteShe studied at the guitar school of some guy named Andrés Segovia, but who's ever heard of him?
I remember hearing her play the guitar on some old tv program (Merv Griffin or something similar), and I was frankly flabbergasted by her skill.

ReplyDeleteWow. He’s GOOD.
ReplyDeleteI remember Charo very well, but I never knew of her musical skills until a few years ago. She is superb.
Yeah, I was amazed at Charo's guitar playing when I first discovered she had other talents than making people laugh. I always thought it was kind of like if a ditzy comedienne like Goldie Hawn, for instance, could sit down at a piano and play La Campenella like Tiffany does.
ReplyDeleteMind blowing, to resurrect an old phrase.
At times it sounds like two people playing

I helped out on the ticket desk on concert nights, which earnt me a seat at the show. Many times, I was amazed at how a quartet could produce such a range of sounds that I would have sworn there were twice as many performers on stage.
