Testing the Tea Party

Virginia has a couple of strong Tea-Party-style candidates for governor and lieutenant governor in, respectively, Ken Cuccinelli and E.W. Jackson. Jackson is particularly interesting, because he is a conservative African-American (who, incidentally, disparages the label: he states that he is "not an African American, but an American”), and a graduate of both Harvard Law School and Harvard Divinity School.

Looks to be a fascinating election.

(H/T: the ever-vigilant Captain Heinrichs).

Update: Ross Kaminsky has a considerably different take.

That's refreshing. There was one generation of my ancestors that could call themselves European-American, but since then we've all been Americans.

The Harvard bit makes me wary, but I wish Virginia the best of luck.
